Maddie
1/21/2012 – 6/11/2018
Maddie was our baby. She came into our life after we lost our 2 mini-dachshunds and filled the hole in our hearts with the joy she brought us. She was a typical golden, loving every person and dog she met, though sometimes they didn’t love her back! She would greet you at the door with what ever shoe happened to be closet to the front door.
She loved little kids, especially Carson and Penny. She gave up her naps whenever they came over because she had to be wherever they were. When they spent the night she would sleep in front of their doors, protecting her “little humans”. Maddie was also Hero #387 in Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. The study’s mission is to determine the cause and eventual cure for the cancers that strike 60% of all Golden Retrievers. Maddie enrolled in the study when she was 6 months old and had what would be her last study vet visit in early April 2018. The cancers that Maddie was working to cure eventually took her life, much too soon. We are hopeful the samples from her tumors will help the Foundation in its fight for the cure. We will never be able to thank both Bay Beach Veterinary (Dr’s Key and Cronin) and Hampton Roads Vet Hospice and Dr. Carmack for the loving and compassionate care they provided for our sweet girl.
Maddie, you will forever be our girl. We love you.
