Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice to host their 6th annual National Pet Memorial Day Ceremony in Virginia Beach.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA July 26, 2018 – Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice is hosting their 6th Annual Water Lantern ceremony in honor of National Pet Memorial Day 2018. This year the event will be held on September 9th at 7:30pm at Pembroke Meadows Recreation Center (4292 Pembroke Blvd, Va Beach 23455). The ceremony brings together pet families wishing to take time to memorialize those beloved animal companions who are no longer here with them. The ceremony will include pet loss readings, personalization of water lanterns, and moment of silent reflection. This event is free and open to the public. Event planners do ask those planning to attend send a RSVP to hrvethospice@gmail.com to ensure there are enough water lanterns for all attendees. Families are also encouraged to bring a photo or other special item to honor their pet(s).

Dr. Carmack, founder of Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice and the Hampton Roads Pet Loss Support Group, is passionate about supporting families through their pet’s final stage of life and through the grieving process after death. The specialized house-call veterinary practice has been providing veterinary geriatric and hospice care, pet acupuncture, and in-home pet euthanasia services in the Hampton Roads community since 2011. Dr. Jeanette Schacher has been a veterinarian with the practice since 2015 and noted “Pets are family members and it’s important to recognize the grief felt when they pass on. This ceremony is a very healing and special way to honor their lives, friendships, and memories.”
