Toci was born July 12, 2010. She passed from this earth on September 19, 2025. Here is the poem I wrote for her.
Our love Toci, an abbreviation for Tamazcalteci, who is known as the Aztec Goddess of Medicine.
That she was… good medicine for our hearts and soul.
You would run to greet us when we came home, so happy and funny,
Rolling on the floor so we could blow on her tummy.
When we brought you home, you played with toys, flowers, toes, and our kitty’s tail.
You loved playing in the backyard without fail.
You loved to chase squirrels for fun,
And when you were finished, you would bask in the sun.
If the garden gate was left open, off you would run
Down to Lynn and Paul to visit and have fun.
I loved when you came to snuggle next to me in bed.
Sometimes you would snore.
That vision will stay in my heart, and I will always want more.
It was so painful to watch you grow frail.
You still would be able to smell me, kiss me, and wag your little tail.
You were tiny, sweet, funny, and mighty.
You liked to show you were boss.
Losing our love Toci is a terrible loss.
Your sweet little spirit is now free again to see and to play.
We will look forward to being by your side again one day!
We will always miss you and your kisses.
