Fees and Policies

We understand that finances should not be at the forefront of the decision-making process when considering saying goodbye to your beloved pet. However, we know that finances do play a role. In order to give you the most accurate estimation of our professional fees, please call us or email info@hrvethospice.com so that we may discuss your individual pet as our prices vary based on your location, your pet’s weight, and your family’s after-care choices.

We are able to accept Scratchpay as a financing option. We are unable to accept CareCredit financing cards.

Payment Options

There are a few ways this can be accomplished ahead of your appointment time. First, check our professional fees above to determine what the total cost of your appointment will be. If you are unsure, feel free to give us a call or send an email anytime to confirm your total.

Check: If you would like to write a check (made payable to “HRVH”) and leave it with the consent form, our doctor can collect this packet when we arrive.

Credit Card (phone): Call us at 757-474-5968 at any time to process your information over the phone.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, we kindly ask that you give us at least a 4-hour advance notice. For all in-home visits, there is a $85 fee for cancellations made within 4 hours of the appointment time. Please understand that this fee system is necessary as short-notice changes and cancellations adversely affect our ability to help other pets and families in need. If the cancellation is due to the natural death of the pet during normal business hours, this fee will not be applied.

Religious Freedoms

The Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice team would like all of our pet families to know that they are free to practice any and all ceremonies or rituals in our presence. Our doctors are open to your spiritual practices and welcome the opportunity to become involved. Please let us know if you have any specific requests that we can accommodate.

Presence of Other Pets

Our goal throughout each home appointment is to maintain a peaceful, calm, and comforting setting for the pet we are helping and their family. Anyone who wants to be present for these appointments is welcome, including other family pets.

Some pets may become upset or disruptive with a new person in their home, especially when the family is already very emotional and tensions are high. Sometimes it is less stressful for everyone if these pets are kept out of the room during the visit. For home euthanasia appointments, these pets can be brought in afterward to view the body and say goodbye to their friend – this is a very important part of the mourning process.

Our doctors will do their part to help keep the setting calm and will only ask for another pet to be excused if absolutely necessary.
